Privacy Policy — Convrt
Last updated: September 15, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Convrt Android app (com.gookkis.convrt), developed and published by Heri Kiswanto ("we") on Google Play. It explains what data is processed when you use the app, by whom, and what choices you have.
Quick summary
- The app does not collect any personal data on our servers. We do not operate a server.
- There is no account, sign-in, or cloud sync.
- Unit conversion runs entirely on your device. Your conversion history, pinned categories and display preferences are stored only on your device.
- The currency and crypto features fetch rates from two public services, Frankfurter and CoinGecko. Those requests contain only the currency or coin codes you selected.
- The app shows ads through Google AdMob, which as a third party may collect certain data (see below).
- The one-time purchase that removes ads is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details.
- Beyond that, there is no analytics SDK, crash reporter, tracker, or other third-party service in the app.
Data we collect
None. We do not request, collect, store, transmit, or sell your personal data — including your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location, or the list of apps installed on your device. The app has no backend, no database, and no usage reporting to us.
The only network traffic the app's own code creates is the rate requests to the third-party services described under "Rate services" below, and only while you use the Currency or Crypto category.
Data stored on your device
To do its job, the app stores a small amount of data locally in your device's internal storage:
- your conversion history (the value, source unit and target unit of conversions you made);
- the categories you pinned as favourites, and the last category and unit pair you opened;
- the user type you picked when first opening the app;
- display preferences: theme, number of decimals, scientific notation, digit grouping;
- a simple counter that decides when the app offers to ask for a review.
This data:
- is never sent to us or to anyone else;
- may be included in your Google account's app backup (Android Backup) if app backup is enabled on your device — that backup is managed by Google and accessible only to your account;
- is deleted entirely when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Third-party rate services (Frankfurter and CoinGecko)
Currency rates come from Frankfurter, an open service publishing European Central Bank reference rates, and crypto prices from CoinGecko. Each request contains only the currency or coin codes you are converting (for example USD or bitcoin). As with any internet connection, the servers of both services technically receive your device's IP address when the request is made. The app sends no other identifier, and never sends the numbers you type. Use of that data by the two services is governed by their own privacy policies: Frankfurter and CoinGecko.
Rate requests are made only when you open the Currency or Crypto category. Every other unit category works without an internet connection.
Third-party advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and funded by ads served through Google AdMob, a service operated by Google LLC. To serve and measure ads, Google as a third-party provider may collect and process data from your device, including:
- Advertising ID (AAID) — an advertising identifier you can reset at any time;
- IP address and the coarse location derived from it;
- Device information such as model, OS version, language and network carrier;
- Ad interactions such as ads shown, viewed or clicked.
That data is collected directly by Google, not by us, and is subject to the Google Privacy Policy. More detail is available at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) before any ad is loaded. Your choice there determines whether Google may serve personalised ads, and you can change it again from the app's Settings screen.
In-app purchases (Google Play Billing)
The app offers a single one-time purchase that removes ads. The transaction is handled entirely by Google Play through Play Billing. We never receive or store your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail — all of it stays in your Google Play account, not with us.
What the app keeps on the device is only the entitlement the purchase granted, such as a marker that ads have been removed. That marker exists so ads do not flash up on every cold start before Google can be asked. It carries no identity of yours and is not sent anywhere.
Your purchase history lives in your Google Play account, not on our servers — we do not have servers. On a new device, purchases are restored from theRestore purchases row in Settings.
App permissions
Permissions requested directly by the app:
android.permission.INTERNET— fetch currency rates and crypto prices, and load ads.com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID— access the Advertising ID for advertising purposes.
The following permissions are added automatically by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and used only by that SDK:
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE— check for connectivity before loading an ad.android.permission.WAKE_LOCKandandroid.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE— used by the ads SDK while loading ad content.android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID,ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION,ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS— Android Privacy Sandbox advertising APIs on Android 13 and later.
The following permission is added by Google Play Billing:
com.android.vending.BILLING— lets Google Play process the one-time purchase that removes ads.
The app does not request access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, external storage, notifications, or any other sensitive permission.
Your choices
- Opt out of personalised ads. Open Settings › Google › Ads on your Android device and turn on "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or delete your Advertising ID. Ads will still be shown, but no longer personalised. Users in Europe can also change their ad consent from the app's Settings screen.
- Reset your Advertising ID. From the same menu you can reset the identifier at any time.
- Use the app offline. Every category other than Currency and Crypto works fully offline. Without a connection, no rate request and no ad request is made.
- Clear your conversion history. History can be cleared inside the app on the History screen.
- Delete all your data. Because everything is stored locally, clearing the app's data (Settings › Apps › Convrt › Storage › Clear data) or uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of it. No copy remains on our side, because we never received one.
Children's privacy
The app is a general-purpose tool for anyone who needs to convert units and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at the address below.
Security
All connections to the rate services and the ad network use HTTPS. Because the app sends no personal data to any server, the risk of a data breach on our side is very small. Data stored on your device is protected by Android's security model, which isolates each app's storage.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time, for example when a feature or a third-party service changes. The latest version is always published on this page with a new update date.
